Aloha friends and neighbors,
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your vote of confidence in Kaua'i's recent primary election for County Council. Once again, we had the highest voter turnout percentage in the state - way to go Kaua'i!
As you know, we are facing trying times at the national level that are affecting the economy of our state and country. According to the Honolulu Advertiser, our congressional delegation has received more than two thousand messages from Hawai'i residents. I applaud those of you who have voiced your opinions, and encourage everyone to stay tuned to the national scene and to send feedback to our senators and representatives as the national picture unfolds.
It is clear that our local government will also face major challenges. Our newly elected county officials will need to look for creative solutions to protect the island lifestyle we hold so dear. As I canvass the island and talk story with residents, it is evident that rising food and power costs, unemployment and the drop-off in visitor arrivals are real problems. We need to work together - as a state, county and community - to find answers in these tough economic times. We can, and we will!
My campaign platform remains the same: I will deliver the voice of the people and represent the heartbeat of Kaua'i. I stand for a community of Aloha and strive for positive solutions to the challenges facing our island home.
Thank you, once again, for giving me the opportunity to proceed to the general election. I enthusiastically ask for your vote on Movember 4th so that I may represent you as a member of the Kaua'i County Council. Mahalo!
It's time for a CHANG!
